The Cave’s details and information:

Dry Cave and Water Cave

According to geologists, we can divide the caves in Ha Long Bay into 2 categories: Dry Cave and Water Cave. The Luon Cave belongs to the second type. From a far distance, Luon Cave has an arch shape which makes it look like an enormous upside-down bowl with the length of 60 meters and the width of 4 meters. The total area of the cave is nearly 1 kilometer square.

Depending on the level of the tide, the height of the cave fluctuates between 2.5 to 4 meters. Therefore, using small boats or kayaks is the only way to enter the cave.

What can be seen inside Luon Cave?

Going through the door of the cave, travelers can see for themselves the stalagmites and the stalactites hanging down from the ceiling. This explains why people named it the Luon Cave. Inside Luon Cave, visitors are able to observe the biodiversity of the cave with many plants and animals, in which ferns, orchids and wild golden monkeys are especially well-developed.

On the cliffs, there are also a lot of fossils that indicate the appearance of human and a deep freshwater valley years ago.  The overall scenery inside the cave is very picturesque and harmonious. Visitors can hear the voice of the birds as well as the sound of dropping water while contemplating the stunning stalagmites and stalactites as well as watching the greenish ferns and the white orchids growing on the wall of the cave.

In the end, this experience will not only be a visual satisfaction but it will also satisfy your hearing as well. Many visitors also find it interesting taking videos or pictures of the golden monkeys swinging through trees and cliffs. Since it is a water cave, you can also find many small sea species in here such as fishes, shrimps, crabs, etc.

Due to the formation of the cave as well as the age of it, Luon Cave is also a favorite destination of scientists. Especially, for geologists and paleontologists, they consider this cave as a valuable destination to do research as well as collecting precious information.
